Understanding and Anticipating the Downside

The Young Real Estate Professionals proud to have Mr. Gerald Guterman, Chairman & CEO of Guterman Partners LLC, speak at our next speaker luncheon on Wednesday, May 12, 2010.

Come and hear from a man who saw the commercial real estate market bubble and capitalized on it.

In something that sounds similar to Michael Lewis' new book "The Big Short," Mr. Guterman understood and anticipated a severe decline in commercial real estate valuation.  From 2003 - 2008, Mr. Guterman did not buy one single commercial real estate asset but rather sold all assets into this uptick.

There are very few people today that understand how to capitalize a down market than Mr. Guterman.  In the early 1990s, Mr. Guterman had negotiated and directed the largest direct purchase of office buildings and hotels in the history of the Resolution Trust Corporation and its successor, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC).

Mr. Guterman began his career in real estate at the age of 18 as a night porter for Fred Trump, father of famed developer Donald Trump. Beginning in the 1980s, he became one of the largest property managers in the United States, with over 60,000 apartments in over 250 communities nationwide and over 16,000 rental apartments converted to condominium ownership.

Guterman Partners has a commercial real estate history spanning over 40 years and $34 billion.

Mr. Guterman served as a trustee of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Adelphi University, New York City Opear, Dallas Opear, Young Men's Philanthropic League, Rippowam Cisqua School, and Harvey School.  He also served as a Commissioner of the United States Romania Action Commission under the sponsorship of the United States Center for Strategic and International Studies, as well as Chairman of its banking and financing committees. He served as personal financial advisor to the Minister of Privatization, Government of Romania.

Mr.Guterman is a founder of Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He was awarded "Humanitarian of the Year" by the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation. Guterman is a Founding Benefactor of Research Lab, Study of Tumor Cell Biology and Research Lab, Study of Immunodeficiency Disease at the National Asthma Center.  He is also a member Society of University Founders, Miami University.

As always, there will be a question and answer period during/following the presentation.

There are only 70 seats available for this event. Tickets are non-refundable.
